Prosecutor Andrey and attorney Veniamin are friends who have a lot in common, but their work now and then puts them on opposite sides of the barricade. The peculiarity of their position is that the trials in which they participate do not take place in earthly life, but in the afterlife. They are participants in the Heavenly judgment, which decides where to direct a person's soul after death, to Heaven or Hell. Andrey's personal interests unexpectedly interfere in one of the cases: a man who has proposed to his widow is put on trial.
