Rosario, una joven mujer, queda desvalida tras la muerte de su padre y el engaño de su novio. Decide abandonar la Ciudad de México y emigrar a Veracruz, donde se convierte en una enigmática prostituta que "vende placer a los hombres que vienen del mar". Rosario busca a su hermano perdido.
